Jhalakathi was called the second Kolkata because of her affluence in trade and commerce. The grave of a Chinese business bears the testimony of this fact.  During the British reign, people from distant country like China would come here for trading.  Basically, they were the traders of coconuts, betel nuts, pulses, tamarinds, peppers, mustards, sesame, and so on. They would buy those things from the local farmers and dry them in their fields. After process of drying, they would supply those household necessaries to Kolkata, Karachi, Mumbai and other Places. This grave is Found in the market of Nalcity.
