Kamini Roy was born on 12 october, 1864 A.D. in the Village of Basonda in Jhalokathi.  In the era of darkness, the appearance of Kamini Roy in the realm of poetic work was undoubtedly a remarkable event for the female of Bengal. She was the first female degree holder in the then British India. Being encouraged by her father, a writer and the social worker, she become interested in literature in her childhood. Her First poetic work `alo o Chaya’ was published at the age of Fifteen.
