Brief Description of Antiquities

Kirttipasha Zamindar Bari

Kirtipasa named after King Kirti Narayana. Ramjivan Sen is the founder of Kirtipasha Zamindar Bari. 
Rohini Roy Chowdhury and Tapan Roy Chowdhury are two bright stars of this family.

Also the history book Bakla. There is a hospital in Kirtipasha which is older than
 Jhalkathi Thana Sadare (District Headquarters) Hospital.
The century-old Prasannakumar Secondary School, the glorious main landlord's house and Durga Mandir,
 are now abandoned and overgrown with weeds.
There are still signs of the theater. Kamalikander Navinchandra Girls School has been
 resettled at Greenramnam and Holaramnam on Mancha. There are still traces of the ritual
 cremation of a co-mortuary tomb. The tomb of Rohini Roy Chowdhury has been newly constructed.
 The family Shiva temple and a Shiva idol still exist. It is located in Kitipasa Union of Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila.

Shaheb’s House

Indigo-factory was established here. Being Extremely vexed with the oppression of the indigo-planters, the farmers killed one of them. His grave was here. The grave was vanished in the river Sugondha. The Shaheb Bari, Stood by the present Govt. Technical School and College, is now known to the common people as `Lichu Bagan(Garden of Litchi).


Fort of Sujabad

When war spread among the sons of Emperor Shahajahan, Shah Suja, after being Defeated migrated to Amirabad in Jhaloakthi for settling here. To protect Himself and Hi armies he took shelter in Amirabad and built a fort in 1963. But the fort has been turned into ruin. Some relics of the ruined fort can still be found.

The House of Gazi

Gazi was once a landlord. He was known as ‘Gazi Saheb’ . He Built the house about two hundred and fifty years ago. There was a dark room in the house where the criminals were locked up for punishment.

Zomaddar Bari

The House of Zamaddar is a Historical monument of Jhalakathi. The old structure is in Kathalia Upozila of Jhalokathi, was-probably built in 1606 A.D. The inheritors of the family think that the house was a four-storied building. The Ground Floor and the first floor of the structure has diminished underneath the soil. It was an extraordinary monument of Moghol Dynasty. Each wall of the inner side of the Biulding was decorated with delicate artistry. Soil Mahamud Zomadder was the founder of this building. He was a landlord of that area.

The Mosque of Zomaddarbari

It is supposed that the mosque was built between the year 1606 to 1610 A.D. It is a one-domed mosque. 12 to 13 Muslim can say their prayer at a time. At present the space for saying prayer has been enlarged to some extent keeping the main structure unchanged. The mosque has been built with lime and brick-dust. The arches inside the mosque were decorated with delicate artistry.

Kal Bari

The ‘Kalbari Oil Mill’ known as ‘Nakhoda`s Mill, was the biggest oil mill in the then whole of Indian Sub-continent. There were 360 machines for making oil here where thousands of worker would work. Besides, there were rice and wheat mills here. Oil produced here was not only sent to all over the country but also exported to Kolkata, Korachi and Bombay. The owner of this mill was Md. Amin, a resident of west Pakistan. During the liberation war of Bangladesh, Md. Amin, the owner of the mill, was killed and the mill was shut down. The huge sound at the time of Starting the machines let the Nearby Inhabitants know the activities of the mills as well as the power and dominations of its owner.


Home and Temple of Tewari Landlord

The landlord-house of Tewari was in the village Kaibortokhali. Ramprasad Tewari settled here about 400 years ago coming from Foyajabad, North province in India. His chief mission was to established his state as a landlord. He bought estate from Sarkar bahadur (his excellency) and established his reign as landlord.

Churichora Hawlader Bari Mosque

Dhahar Shankar Churikora trio mosque. It is state that the masque was built nearly 650 years ago by someone name Dhonala sona ullah.

Kacharibari of Sreenath Raza

The kaccharibari (feudal lord’s court and office)of the sreenath raza (zamindar) was a traditional house for running his state. Sreenath had three sons named subid roy, gopal roy and kammed roy. The king divided his state among his three sons. The area were named after by their names like subidpur, gopalpur and kamdebpur.

100 Years Old Tree

There is a pouplar saying that fictional character Gunaibibi planted this particular tree . It is in Nabagram, Jhalakathi
